Maggie Rawlinson

Maggie trained at the Arts Educational School. As an associate artist of London Youth Opera (formerly W11 Opera) Maggie has had the pleasure of working on over a dozen productions for the company to date. Her first production was with Annilese Miskimmon, working as Movement Director on Shadowtracks and since then has collaborated with four other directors and twice previously with this year's composer Stuart Hancock and librettist Donald Sturrock on The Cutlass Crew and Rain Dance.

Maggie worked on the revival productions of Richard Jones’s Hansel and Gretel first with Annilese Miskimmon for Nationale Reisopera in the Netherlands and then Ben Davies for Welsh National Opera in Cardiff. She also recreated the staging of Linda Dobell’s work on The Marriage of Figaro for Opera North.

Other work with young people includes Summer Youth Productions for the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon, choreographing Summer Holiday, Grease and Hairspray culminating in 2018 with Maggie directing as well as choreographing Oliver! for the SYP. As part of this year’s Summer Rep season Maggie choreographed the first ever actor/musician version of the hit Broadway show Gypsy for Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

Other theatre credits include: Eye of the Storm, Nye and Jennie, Tom, A Story Of Tom Jones The Musical, Salsa!, Bankrupt Bride, Cyrano, Stowaway (all Theatr na n’Og prods) Jackie the Musical (Gardyne Theatre, Dundee) The Canterbury Tales (Mappa Mundi) Oh What A Lovely War, The Mabinogion (Theatr Clwyd) Be My Baby, A Woman In Mind, Martha, Josie And The Chinese Elvis (Salisbury Playhouse) Sweet Charity (Battersea Arts Centre).

Maggie has also choreographed over twenty Christmas shows across the UK for theatres including Salisbury Playhouse, Theatr Clwyd, Greenwich Theatre, Leeds City and Varieties Music Hall and is happy to be returning for the sixth time for this year's rock ‘n' roll pantomime Dick Whittington at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich.

Film and television work includes Panto Shane a'r Bont Hud & Panto Shane a'r Belen Aur (Boom Cymru for S4C) The Crust (BBC) Henry VIII with Ray Winstone and Helena Bonham Carter (Granada) In A Land Of Plenty (Talkback Prods) and was Assistant Choreographer on Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Warner Bros) De-Lovely (MGM/Winkler Films) and Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence (Dreamworks).
